Lufthansa Refund Policy

Refund Policy:

The conditions and method of ticket purchase determine Lufthansa’s Refund Policy:

Bookings made at least seven days in advance of travel

Within 24 hours of booking, customers are free to cancel their reservation. When using a credit card, refunds are processed within seven days; when using cash or a check, they are processed within twenty days.

Cancellations online

Up to 24 hours prior to their flight, customers can use the online refund option to cancel and get a refund. But the fare criteria must be met in order to receive the refund.

Cancellations of flights

If a customer’s flight is canceled without a replacement, or if there is a specific amount of delay in the departure or arrival time, they may be eligible for a full refund. If the consumer has a delay of two hours or more in either the departure or arrival time, they can be qualified for a refund.

Managing charges

Refunds for any handling fees should be issued less the cancellation fee since they are computed as part of the transaction. The credit card that was used to complete the purchase is used to give refunds.

All eligible tickets will receive reimbursements from Lufthansa within seven (7) days if purchased with a credit card and within twenty (20) days if purchased with cash or check. Should there be a flight cancellation or an oversale scenario, Lufthansa will reimburse you for any monies paid for services that you were not able to utilize.

All flights and services included in the reservation are subject to cancellation. Consumers should get in touch with the seller of the ticket if they disagree with this.

Any handling fees ought to be factored into the transaction and, as such, be reimbursed (less the cancellation charge).

Subject to the terms of the ticket and Lufthansa’s cancellation policy, the individual making the reservation will be charged in all other circumstances and under all applicable laws.

Within 14 days, and in compliance with all applicable regulations, the refund will be issued using the credit card that was used to complete the transaction.

Plans for travel can frequently change suddenly. Bookings for Lufthansa flights can be canceled and refunded online up to 24 hours prior to the start of your trip by using the online refund option.

Please wait to apply for a refund of the Flight Value Voucher until your application for a refund of your ticket has been completed if you have already made an application that is still being processed for a refund for a ticket purchased with a voucher.

You can get your ticket back if you converted it into a Flight Value Voucher that you decide not to use.

The full cost of your ticket, including all taxes and fees, will be reimbursed to the original payment method if it hasn’t been used.

In the event that you have utilized a portion of the trip that you did not intend to use, the prorated amount of the ticket’s charge, taxes, and fees will be deducted.

Refund of Overcharges and Taxes

Please be aware that in addition to the rights listed below about ticket cancellation under the Israel Consumer Protection Law, you can also be eligible for a refund of taxes and fees if your tickets are unused.

Refund Request:

If you would like your ticket refunded, you can use the Lufthansa Chat Assistant or “My bookings” -> “Flight details” -> “Request a refund.” If this isn’t possible, you can also use the form below to ask for a refund.

Your request will in this instance be handled manually by one of our service centers. The same payment method that you used will be utilized to process your Refund.

The following situations are the only ones where a full refund is feasible:

  1. Your flight was canceled and there was no substitute.
  2. Your departing airport’s scheduled departure time has been moved up by over an hour or postponed by at least two hours.
  3. Your destination is going to be at least two hours later than expected.
  4. In the event of brief flight disruptions, the actual departure time was shifted by more than five hours on the current day or the day after.

Up to 24 hours prior to departure, you can cancel your trip and obtain a Refund under My bookings:

  • To access the login page for your booking summary, click on My Bookings.
  • Enter your booking code and surname to log in. A “Cancellation” button will appear next to any bookable reservation in your booking summary.
  • Select the appropriate reservation by clicking the “Cancellation” button next to it, then confirm your choice on the screen that appears.
  • You will now receive an automated confirmation email and your flight reservation will be canceled.
  •  If you bought your ticket at a Lufthansa office or online at lufthansa.com, the refund will be processed instantly; no further action is required.
  • We advise you to contact the travel agency directly if your tickets were purchased through them.
  • Please get in touch with us once more for additional processing if you don’t hear back from us promptly or if it seems required for other reasons.
  • You can apply for a refund of your ticket online or at your travel agent if you have a ticket for a flight that Lufthansa has canceled and you haven’t done so yet.

Tickets that are used partially will be reimbursed pro rata.

Refunds are conditional in other situations, such travel, medical constraints, or voluntary cancellation. When you booked, we let you know about this. Only taxes and fees are refundable on non-refundable fares.
